Jamie Carragher calls Manchester United legend a Cristiano Ronaldo ‘fan boy’

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has called Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand a Cristiano Ronaldo ‘fan boy’ as the two pundits clashed over the Manchester United star on Twitter.

Carragher defended Erik ten Hag’s decision not to use Ronaldo in Manchester United’s 6-3 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

Ferdinand called out Carragher on Twitter and reminded the former Liverpool defender of a moment earlier this season when Ronaldo failed to shake his hand.

Posted alongside a video of himself explaining the point, Ferdinand said: “Carra, you still upset he didn’t shake your hand at Old Trafford?

“The hardest thing to do in football is score goals…”

In response, Carragher told the ex-United defender to stop being a ‘fan boy’ of Ronaldo.

Carragher tweeted: “No I’m delighted it [the video] went viral!

“Rio I know how it works, he’s your mate and you/ [Patrice] Evra and the rest are on the group WhatsApp and he asks you to come out and defend him, don’t be his fan boy you’re Rio Ferdinand FFS!!”
