Manchester United have been linked with a January move for Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio.

The Spain international has less than a year left on his Real Madrid contract and has struggled for game time this season.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Parker has revealed why Manchester United want Asensio.

“Maybe there’s that Real Madrid connection now with [Raphael] Varane, Casemiro, and [Cristiano] Ronaldo,” Parker told indiabetting.

“I can see why they want him because he’s a really dynamic player. He is a good player and could be a great addition to the squad, but I think it is really difficult to prepare for these transfers because the World Cup is coming up.

“There will be players who are selling themselves, and there might also be players who all of the sudden will perform well at the World Cup and suddenly will be wanted by all the big clubs in the world. On the other hand there will be players who will disappoint and because of that will no longer be a target for the club.”
