Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has revealed Jadon Sancho and Antony always cutting inside limits the space for him to make offensive runs.
Fernandes scored his second goal of the season as Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 on Wednesday night at Old Trafford.
Against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United wingers Sancho and Antony both dribbled with the ball more and made a conscious effort to beat their man on the flank.
Speaking after the game, Fernandes said this enabled him to make runs forward unlike times when the wide men looked for an option inside.
“For me, it is difficult to find those positions when the wingers come inside because I have to make the space for the players around me,” Fernandes told Amazon Prime.
“When Antony came in, he was trying to find me or Jadon. If he runs a little bit more I have to make a different run.”
This change in approach allowed Fernandes to get in an attacking position for his goal and led to him netting the ball a second time shortly after before the assistant referee flagged for offside.
