Manchester United wonderkid Zidane Iqbal is a January transfer target for Championship club Middlesbrough after failing to make a single appearance under Erik ten Hag despite impressing in pre-season, according to Football League World.

Manchester United legend Michael Carrick is the current manager of Middlesbrough and he is reportedly seeking to use his connections at the club to sign Zidane on loan in January.

Iqbal is a player Carrick is extremely familiar with, having coached him and seen him from close quarters during his coaching days at the Theatre of Dreams.

“Carrick wants to lean on his Man United links and look at a potential deal for Iqbal, the Red Devils’ teenage midfielder. Boro head of football Kieran Scott is starting to put together general transfer plans ahead of the winter window at the moment,” the report states.

“Any move for Iqbal would almost certainly be a loan given how highly rated he is at Old Trafford.”
