Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘very optimistic’ he can help Portugal win the World Cup.
Portugal take on Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H for a spot in the knockout stages of the tournament.
In an interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV, Ronaldo said: “I am very optimistic. We have a fantastic coach, we have a good generation of football players.
“I’m looking forward that we’re going to it an amazing World Cup… [It’s] gonna be tough. Extremely difficult. But everything is possible. But of course we’re gonna compete.”
Ronaldo believes France, Spain, Argentina, Germany and Brazil would be the big teams to beat and smiled as he said he would retire on the spot if he helped his team to win the World Cup.
He added he thought England ‘have a chance’ like Portugal.
