Alan Shearer believes Cristiano Ronaldo has ‘got his wish’ after Manchester United announced his immediate departure from the club on Tuesday.

Manchester United announced on Tuesday that the Red Devils and Ronaldo had mutually agreed to terminate the remainder of his contract that was set to expire in the summer.

Manchester United took the decision to terminate the contract of Ronaldo following his interview with Piers Morgan that saw the forward slam Erik ten Hag, the club’s infrastructure, and owners the Glazer family.

Speaking in the wake of Ronaldo’s exit, he told the BBC: “No not shocked (he has left), in the end he got his wish. 

“That’s why he did the interview, it was inevitable after that, will be interesting to see if a Champions League club comes in for him.”
