Manchester United have been urged to shun a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham due to the competition for the England international.

With Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid interested in signing the 19 year old midfielder, Borussia Dortmund are expecting a huge bidding war in the summer.

However, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has urged Manchester United to sign Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos instead.

Kroos is in the final year of his Real Madrid contract and is yet to extend his contract with the Spanish side.

“Kroos is such an intelligent footballer,” Robinson told Football Insider. “If you can get a player of that quality and experience on a free transfer you pay him handsomely. When you look at what they would pay overall, it would not be that bad a deal. It would not cost a fortune because there would be no transfer fee.

“I think Kroos could play at the top level for another three or four years. He is a world-class player. It is a no-brainer for me. There is going to be a lot of competition for Bellingham. Kroos might be cheaper and easier to get.”

Kroos, 32, is not appearing at the World Cup for Germany having retired from international football following his country’s round of 16 exit to England at Euro 2020.
