Manchester United interested in signing 25 year old La Liga star. Ten Hag is a huge admirer of the player

Manchester United remain interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong ahead of the summer transfer window, according to The Guardian.

Manchester United pushed to sign the 25 year old midfielder but the Dutch international midfielder, who played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, was reluctant to leave Barcelona for Manchester United.

De Jong was Erik ten Hag’s No 1 choice last summer to strengthen his squad and Ten Hag still remains a huge admirer of the Barcelona midfielder.

According to The Guardian, De Jong isn’t seeking a move away from Barcelona at the moment though this could change in the close season.

While Ten Hag’s priority is signing a centre-forward in the summer window, the manager is also intent on bolstering his midfield department to provide competition for the first-choice Casemiro and Christian Eriksen and remains a firm admirer of De Jong’s.
