Manchester United send scouts to watch striker better than Erling Haaland
Manchester United have sent scouts to watch RB Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to Daily Star.
The 19 year old has caught the attention of Manchester United, having netted nine goals in 19 league games, including a seven-minute hat-trick on Sunday.
United, who were reported in January to have Sesko on their three-man shortlist for a new striker, remain interested in signing the forward despite his impending move to RB Leipzig in the summer.
Manchester United are reportedly ready to buy out Leipzig’s already agreed deal for Sesko with a higher fee.
United have now taken the next step in signing the player by sending scouts to watch Sesko against Rapid Vienna on the weekend. There, they were joined by scouts from Spurs, Inter Milan and Leeds.
Manchester United missed out on signing Erling Haaland wheh he was at RB Salzburg, with the striker instead opting to join Borussia Dortmund before joining Manchester City last summer.
Sesko himself has claimed his teammates at RB Salzburg believe he is an upgrade on Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland.
He told Goal: “My team-mates at the club [Salzburg] tell me that Haaland and I are very similar, especially in terms of speed. Most of them even tell me that I’m better than him!
“Such comparisons motivate me and give me energy. They do not represent pressure. I will listen and learn so I can be even better than he is.”
