Manchester United midfielder Casemiro was sent off in the first-half of the goalless draw against Southampton at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Casemiro was initially booked by referee Anthony Taylor for his challenge on Saints attacker Carlos Alcaraz. The referee then upgraded the card to a red after consulting VAR.

The red card against Southampton is Casemiro’s second of the season following the red – also given by VAR – against Crystal Palace at the start of last month.

Casemiro will now be suspended for four domestic games after receiving his second red card of the season.

He will miss next Sunday’s clash versus Fulham at Old Trafford in the Emirates FA Cup.

The 31-year-old will then sit out league games with Newcastle (away), Brentford and Everton (both at home) following the international break.

Casemiro’s suspension is only for domestic games which means he will be available for the second leg of our Europa League round-of-16 tie with Real Betis this week.
