‘I shouldn’t need to prove myself at this level’ – Manchester United star sends message to Erik ten Hag
Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has insisted he has nothing to prove despite falling down the pecking order at Manchester United this season.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has preferred the centre-back partnership of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.
“I’m nearly 30 but I shouldn’t need to prove myself at this level,” Maguire said, as quoted by The Athletic.
“I’ve made over 50 caps and I’m England’s top-scoring defender. I’ve played nearly 200 times for Manchester United, I’ve captained the club for three years but I also understand that when you are the captain of Manchester United you come under the most scrutiny.”
