Joey Barton has insisted that Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is ‘levels and levels above’ Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
Kane is currently one place below Rooney in the all-time Premier League goalscoring charts but will soon overtake the Manchester United legend.
Rooney scored a total of 208 Premier League goals and is second on the all-time list, behind Alan Shearer’s 260, while Kane is currently third with 204.
Barton posted on Twitter: “People comparing Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane?
“WR (Wayne Rooney) in a completely different stratosphere. Levels and levels and levels above.
“Respect what Harry Kane has done but let’s settle down on the goal record. Michael Owen. Alan Shearer. Gary Lineker. All light years ahead as marksmen.
“Then Rooney just a well better player. The last world class Englishman. (Jude) Bellingham has a chance to be WC (world class) of [the] current mob.”
