According to ESPN via Manchester Evening News, Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso isn’t interested in joining Manchester United.

The Barcelona man is among a number of short-term fixes being eyed by the Reds as they look to plug a gap left by the injured Luke Shaw.

However he looks more likely to stay with Barcelona and hopes to fight for his place under Xavi.

Alonso, 32, ended his six-year spell at Chelsea last summer to join Barcelona, starting 11 La Liga matches in their title-winning campaign last season.

Manchester United have also reportedly inquired about the availability of Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella and Sergio Reguilon of Tottenham.

With both Shaw and Malacia unavailable, Diogo Dalot shifted over to a left-back role as United came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday.
