Manchester United have submitted an opening bid to sign Marc Cucurella on loan from Chelsea, according to the Athletic via Metro.
Manchester United are keen on signing a left-back before the transfer window closes with Luke Shaw out injured for two months and Tyrell Malacia also injured.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has identified Cucurella, 25, as an ideal signing. The Spaniard is out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino and is free to leave Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are said to have responded to the offer but their response is unclear.
The two sides are contunuing negotiations and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea would be open to a permanent exit.
Ten Hag feels Cucurella, who can also play at left centre-back in a back three, is the best option available to United at this present time.
The club have looked at Nicolas Tagliafico and Marcos Alonso, but Cucurella is Ten Hag’s choice.
