Manchester United issue statement on Antony

Manchester United have issued a statement on Antony after the winger was accused of abuse by his former girlfriend.

It comes after the winger was dropped from the Brazil squad after claims of physical aggression by Gabriela Cavallin

The 23-year-old, who signed for United from Ajax in an £85m deal last September, is accused of attacking the social media influencer on a number of occasions since January.

The statement reads: “Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the Police are conducting enquiries.

“Pending further information, the club will be making no further comments.

“As a club, we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact of these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse.”
