A report on Daily Mail via Metro has revealed why Manchester United decided against signing Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane.

Kane completed a £100million move to Bayern Munich in August to end his time at Tottenham.

Manchester United had been heavily linked with a move for Kane but opted to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta instead.

Manchester United reportedly decided against signing Kane because of the forward’s wage demands, rather than the transfer fee needed to sign the 30-year-old.

Kane is said to be on around £400,000-a-week in Munich, making him the highest paid player in Germany.

United have offloaded top earners such as David De Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo in the last 12 months, and they were reluctant to give a 30-year-old such a high salary.

Instead, United signed 20-year-old Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.

The Dane is believed to earn around £50,000-a-week.
