Erik ten Hag slammed for his treatment of this impressive Manchester United star

BBC Sports Pundit Gary Lineker has criticised Manchester United boss Erik ten Tag’s refusal to give playing opportunities to impressive midfielder Scott McTominay.

Despite the fact McTominay and his new Old Trafford teammate Rasmus Hojlund are currently the top goalscorers of the Euro 2024 qualifiers with six goals each, the Scot has been more of a squad player at United.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Gary Lineker said: “I notice Scott McTominay playing and getting in the box a lot.

“He scored again in this game [Euro 2024 qualifier vs Cyprus], he scored a couple in the game for the first time against Cyprus.

“He’s the top scorer in qualifying. It’s nuts! Yet he’s not really getting a look in at Manchester United. Someone will surely go for him?”

The 26-year-old has registered just nine minutes of football for the Red Devils so far this season, as he is currently behind the likes of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Sofyan Amrabat, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen in Erik ten Hag’s midfield berth.
