‘I will even play as a goalkeeper’ – New Manchester United signing reacts to be played out of position by Ten Hag
Manchester United summer signing Sofyan Amrabat has vowed to play in any position United manager Erik ten Hag wants him to play, even as a goalie.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Tuesday, Sofyan Amrabat said: “I told the manager I will play where [he] needs me and where the team needs me.
“Even if it is a goalkeeper! I play where I can help the team, today it was left-back. I had a bit of a free role, I think you saw I played a bit in midfield.
“I think it was a perfect night. We played very well and, most importantly, we won 3–0. I played for one hour. Since I was a child I worked for this [moment].
“I worked very hard for my whole career and life [for this], so it was amazing to play here. Today is a Tuesday and the stadium was full, it is fantastic.”
Amrabat made his first start for the club on Tuesday night in our 3–0 win against Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup.
The injury crisis facing the team meant that the 27-year-old was played out of position at left-back. However, the player is clearly not worried.
