‘A lot of clubs spoke to me’ – Sofyan Amrabat makes shocking revelation about joining Manchester United
Manchester United summer signing Sofyan Amrabat has revealed he rejected a summer move to rivals Liverpool, as his heart already set on joining Manchester United
The Morocco international moved to Old Trafford on deadline day as he arrived from Fiorentina on an initial £8.5 million (€10m) loan deal, with the option to make the move permanent for £21.4m (€25m).
Reports this week claimed that Amrabat was close to moving to Anfield and even spoke to Reds boss Jurgen Klopp. But the player insists being reunited with Ten Hag was his priority.
When asked if he endured a difficult period in the summer as he held out for a move to United, Amrabat said: “Yes, of course.
“After the last game with the club, it was the Conference League final with West Ham and from that moment, the window started for me.
“A lot of clubs, a lot of speaking, talking, but for me it was clear I wanted Manchester United.
“It was long, long months for me, difficult months for me, but at the end it’s nice on the last day that I signed here and that I’m here is now the most important.”
