Manchester United welcome back Brazilian star back to training
Manchester United have confirmed the return of Antony back to training and selection amid allegation of domestic abuse.
The Brazilian winger was accused by his former partner, Gabriela Cavallin of physically abusing her on multiple occasions during their time together in Manchester and in their native Brazil.
The player who has since denied the allegations was placed on an indefinite leave of absence by the club.
However, he has been welcomed back to the club while ‘police inquiries proceeding’ into his actions remain ongoing.
“Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so,” United said in a statement.
“As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.
“As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
It remains to be seen if the player will be involved in our Premier League clash against Crystal Palace this weakened.
