‘Football is brutal’ – Brentford boss Thomas Frank reacts to dramatic defeat to Manchester United
Brentford manager Thomas Frank is devastated with his side’s dramatic 2-1 defeat against Manchester United on Saturday at Old Trafford.
Despite the Bees leading for majority of the game via a Mathias Jensen goal, they were shocked and brought down to earth by two late goals by United hero Scott McTominay.
Brentford manager Frank took a philosophical view during his post-match press duties as he shared his thoughts on the game. Speaking to Premier League Productions, the Dane said: “Football is brutal in moments like this.
“I think that we did so many things right, coming here to Old Trafford, almost perfect first half, pressed high, good on the counter-attack, and [we had a] well-deserved lead.
“In the second half, you know you will be put under pressure here. I actually felt like we defended it very well and didn’t give any big chances away, well, until the third minute of injury time.”
He added: “Then to lose the game is even more brutal. At least a draw was probably a fairer reflection. The beauty of the game of football.
“The ball dropped in the right areas for them and that’s it. In the first half we were much better than in the second, but so close to being a perfect away performance.”
