According to reports, Sheikh Jassim’s bid to buy Manchester United was never going to be successful after he aimed a sly dig at the Glazers reign at the club.
The Qatari business mogul proposed to ‘restore former glories’ at Old Trafford, a remark that casted gloom on the reign of American owners.
He finally withdrew his bid for the club on Saturday after the Glazers turned down a fresh approach from his representatives despite being named as favourite to buy the club.
Unlike Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Jassim was keen on acquiring 100% full control of the club. He vowed to wipe the club’s debt, as well as financing a redeveloped Old Trafford or building a new stadium.
