‘It was meant to be’ – Harry Maguire reacts to Manchester United’s Champions League win over Copenhagen
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire insists Manchester United’s Champions League win over Copenhagen was meant to be, following the dramatic circumstances in the game.
The former United skipper scored his first goal since February 2022 when he headed in from a brilliant cross from Christian Eriksen with under 20 minutes.
But there was more drama to follow as Copenhagen were given a last-minute penalty which was saved by Andre Onana on an emotional night at Old Trafford.
“Definitely, it was meant to be. We were meant to win the game, a magnificent save and a win dedicated to Sir Bobby and his family,” the defender told TNT Sports.
“It has been a tough week for us away at Sheffield United and losing someone like Sir Bobby, it affects the cub and the dressing room. But really pleased we could get the win tonight.”
