Following Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag explained why the Red Devils aren’t playing good football this season.
Ten Hag has blamed injuries for Manchester United’s underwhelming performances this season.
Following the 1-0 victory over Fulham, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand asked Ten Hag when he will inspire a consistent style of play.
Ferdinand said: “I saw some comments from you before the game about the playing style.
“How long before we see a team where you say, ‘This is how I want to play’. At the moment, consistently, we’re not seeing that.
“You would probably agree.”
Ten Hag responded: “With all due respect, didn’t we see it last season?”
And Ferdinand interjected: “Last season we saw it, this season we haven’t.”
Ten Hag responded: “No – but anyone knows why. We have so many injuries.
“Every time you have to make changes and the routines are not there. We have to be more pragmatic.
“It’s not an excuse. Even if the players are not available for the same roles, the quality is there.
“They are good players but they have to play games in the same line-up for the routines to be there and we can play better.”
