Manchester United fans react as De Gea is set to join Premier League rivals
According to reports, former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is keen on joining Newcastle United.
The Magpies want the former United shot-stopper, after their No.1 Nick Pope suffered a dislocated shoulder in the 1-0 win over Erik ten Hag’s side on Saturday.
31-year-old Pope will need to undergo surgery and is likely to be ruled out for at least four months, and Newcastle are in the search for a replacement.
Martin Dubravka came onto replace Pope late on against United with Loris Karius also in reserve. But Newcastle are also strongly considering bringing in De Gea.
The Spaniard is without a club after he was released by United after 12 years at Old Trafford in the summer.
Manchester Unite fans are unhappy that De Gea will be moving to a top four rival, as his replacement Andre Onana continue to struggle at Old Trafford.
