Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United have made the best January signing

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Manchester United’s appointment of Omar Berrada as their new chief executive is their ‘best January signing’.

Following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25 percent acquisition in the club, one of his first steps was to poach Berrada from rivals Manchester City.

The Spaniard had been part of the Man City hierarchy since 2011 and have previously worked at Barcelona. It is believed that he played a key role in the success currently enjoyed at the Etihad Stadium.

Rio Ferdinand has now hailed the appointment of Berrarda.

“I spoke to some guys who were at Manchester City,” Ferdinand told his FIVE podcast on Monday.

“They cannot believe we have got him. They think he has done so much in the game at different levels and has been successful and that it is a really good, sharp signing for us.

“I think this could potentially be one of our best January signings. In the current climate we are in now, especially.”
