Manchester United star attended nightclub hours before reporting in sick and missing training

According to various reports, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford spent time partying in a Belfast nightclub the evening before he reported himself too ill to train.
This incident occurred prior to Manchester United’s FA Cup match against Newport County. Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, confirmed that Rashford, along with Jonny Evans, was ill and their participation in upcoming games was uncertain.
Rashford reportedly returned to Manchester on a private jet on Friday morning. There is video footage of Rashford’s night out in Belfast, with Manchester United claiming that the images were from Wednesday night, before a scheduled day off for the first team squad.
However, it has been confirmed by The Athletic that Rashford was also out on Thursday evening, ‘hours before being scheduled to report for a club training session’. Both Manchester United and Rashford’s camp have declined to comment on this matter when contacted.
This is not the first time Rashford’s nightlife activities have been a topic of discussion. In October 2023, Rashford was seen in a Manchester nightclub hours after Manchester United suffered a heavy defeat to Manchester City. Ten Hag addressed that incident, describing it as “unacceptable”, but noted that Rashford was very motivated to make things right.
The current situation with Rashford’s attendance in Belfast and subsequent illness has sparked various reactions among fans and observers, with some expressing disappointment over his professionalism and others arguing that he should be allowed some personal time.
