Liverpool legend singles out one Man United player for praise
Liverpool legend Danny Murphy has singled out Man United defender Luke Shaw for praise following the clash at Rodney Parade.
Shaw who has just returned from injury started the game, and lasted over 80 minutes of the game.
Murphy believes Manchester United fare better when Shaw is in the team.
“I always think Man Utd look a better side when Shaw is in the team,” Murphy said.
“He’s good defensively, calm on the ball and gets forward well. They have missed him.”
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was pleased with the win, but not happy about his side’s missed chances.
“The first 35 mins we were very comfortable leading,” said Ten Hag.
“Leading 2-0 but it should have been 3-0 or 4-0. They [Newport] created no chance then out of nothing – there was also a foul – they score.
“Straight after half-time we make a mistake during defensive transition – not great. Then you have to start again to win this game but then we did, boys well done.”
