With Xavi set to step down as Barcelona manager at the end of the season, Barcelona have been urged to hire former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho as Xavi’s replacement.

Jose Peseiro, the head coach of Nigeria, believes Jose Mourinho has what it takes to manage Barcelona.

Peseiro, who took Nigeria to the final of the just concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where the team lost 2-1 to Ivory Coast, stated this in an interview with Spanish outlet, Sport.

“I’m Portuguese, a good friend of Mourinho… I like Mou,” Peseiro told Spanish outlet, Sport.

“I would like Mourinho to go to coach Barça, he has to be in a team to win everything, because he is a winner.”

He added: “I’m sure he would do well because of the demands he places on everything and everyone around him day after day, every minute, to build a team to win.”

Mourinho is currently unemployed after he was sacked by Italian club Roma following a poor run of results.
