Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, has surprisingly hinted that he’s open to working as an assistant to Pep Guardiola.

Rooney who has been coaching since retiring from football, believes working with Pep will improve his managerial ability.

Rooney has attributed Mikel Arteta’s success at Arsenal to learning under Pep Guardiola.

During an appearance with Gary Neville on The Overlap, Wayne Rooney was asked if he could envision himself working as an assistant manager.

“It depends,” answered the Manchester United legend.

“If Pep Guardiola comes in and asks me to be his assistant, I’d work there [at Manchester City].

“But if you see what [Mikel] Arteta is doing now at Arsenal, I strongly believe a lot of that is from learning what Guardiola was doing and so it depends on what the situation is.”
