Despite Liverpool’s status as favorites, thanks to their Carabao Cup victory and a strong position in the intense Premier League title race, United are preparing for a strategic battle.
United’s season have been challenging, with a last-place finish in our Champions League group and a current sixth-place standing in the Premier League, 17 points adrift of Jurgen Klopp’s squad, and facing a tough fight to secure a top-four finish.
However, the focus for both teams now shifts to the imminent FA Cup encounter, and Erik ten Hag has shared insights into how United could secure a victory against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
“We will go and be brave and go forward where it’s possible,” Erik ten Hag told a press conference on Friday.
“Also, we know, when there’s space in the back of their defending line, we can exploit it.
“But we have to get to that point, to outplay them, to get the balls there, and that demands a good strategy in the key moments of football.
“Some games are bigger than others, that’s definitely [true]. I think Manchester United v Liverpool is always a big game, but especially when it’s the quarter-final of the FA Cup.
“We’re really looking forward to it. It’s a special game, absolutely. [Liverpool] are very consistent, and they perform very well, they got the results.
“Especially, I would say, around Christmas to January, February. They played very good football [and had] very good performances and very good results.”
