According to a report on Daily Mail, Premier League rivals Newcastle United are considering a rare move of banning Manchester United from signing any of their players this summer.
Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth has been placed on gardening leave following interest from Manchester United.
Amid fears they could lose some of their players to Man United, Newcastle want to insert a ‘transfer ban’ clause in Ashworth’s contract at Old Trafford to prevent him from signing any of their players.
Ashworth’s move to United is still yet to be confirmed, with discussions still on-going as new chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues to stamp his mark on the club following his 27.7 per cent investment.
Should Ashworth’s move be confirmed, he will be charged with leading the restructuring of football operations at Old Trafford under the new part-ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos group. His key responsibility will be recruitment.
