Two Manchester United players out injured. May not play again this season
Manchester United have suffered a fresh injury setback, as defenders Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof have been ruled out for ‘at least a month’.
With Manchester United aiming to push for a top four finish, this comes at a bad time for the club.
Lisandro Martinez was in action during the 1-1 draw with Brentford, and had only just marked his return from injury after a long while out.
Lindelof has featured in 19 of Manchester United’s 29 Premier League games this season. He started the 1-1 draw away at Brentford before being subbed off with a hamstring injury.
The injury setbacks come at a crucial point of the season, with United hoping to climb up the Premier League table and win the FA Cup.
The experienced duo have now been ruled out for at least four weeks – which means they may not even feature again this season.
United boss Erik ten Hag is under pressure at Manchester United, who are currently sixth in the league, and nine eight points behind Tottenham who drew with West Ham on Tuesday evening, and 11 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, who visit Manchester City on Wednesday.
United will be hoping to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, and close the gap on their top four rivals.
Ten Hag will be limited at the back, without the help of Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez, amid other injury problems in defence, as Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane are also on the sidelines.
