Manchester United agree terms with £70m player

Manchester United have reportedly agreed personal terms with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, but they are still £30 million short of Everton’s £70 million valuation.
Branthwaite, who had an impressive season with Everton, is seen as a key target for United to strengthen their defence after a poor 2023/24 season where they conceded 58 goals.
United are confident that a bid in the range of £60-70 million might eventually secure Branthwaite’s transfer.
The club believes that the arrival of their new technical director, Jason Wilcox, who has a good relationship with Branthwaite’s agent, could give them an edge in the negotiations.
Everton, despite their financial challenges and recent point deduction, are holding firm on their valuation, seeing Jarrad Branthwaite as a significant asset. This ongoing negotiation highlights United’s urgent need to bolster their defensive line-up.
