Ex Man United coach Rene Meulensteen has said he would sell Antony without thinking twice if he was in the position to do so.

The Brazilian winger had his chance last season as Erik ten Hag put his faith in him, but Antony responded with fruitless performances.

Speaking to the Metro, Rene Meulensteen said: “I would sell Antony straight away, no discussion. Manchester United have better players there now in those positions.

“Amad Diallo coming in, Alejandro Garnacho has shown he can play on both sides. Even Bruno Fernandes can play wide if needed. I don’t think you necessarily need another player with pace.

“You need a player with good deliveries there. There’s so many other options there. I think Antony hasn’t done anything to suggest we are going to see anything different this season.”

The 24-year-old is expected to stay at Old Trafford this summer for the 2024/25 campaign with the Red Devils.
