Revealed: The two players Ten Hag blocked from leaving Manchester United on transfer deadline
The summer transfer window was shut on Friday night, and it was a very busy one for Premier League clubs.
According to reports, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag blocked two Manchester United players from leaving Old Trafford on transfer deadline day.
United concluded the Manuel Ugarte deal on deadline day, with Scott McTominay also leaving for Napoli.
Interestingly, Manchester United had the opportunity to be involved in more deadline-day deals but it was blocked by Ten Hag, as there was an offer for the duo of Christian Eriksen and Antony.
According to the Daily Mail, La Liga side Real Betis approached Manchester United with loan offers for Christian Eriksen and Antony, but Ten Hag blocked the deal.
Antony was thought to be available for transfer, having failed to get any minutes in Manchester United’s Premier League opener against Fulham before coming on as a late substitute in last weekend’s defeat to Brighton.
Since his £82m move from Ajax in 2022, Antony has been one of the most criticised players in the Premier League.
