Manchester United chief gives update on United’s next manager after win over Leicester City
Manchester United are set to confirm the appointment of Ruben Amorim as their next manager, following the dismissal of Ten Hag.
Sporting Lisbon have already accepted Amorim’s departure after Man United agreed to pay the manager’s £8.3m release clause.
A Manchester United executive has confirmed the deal.
“Yeah, it’s done!” Sir Dave Brailsford, the head of sport for the INEOS group, told some Man United fans after the 5-2 win against Leicester City in the EFL Cup.
Amorim’s arrival could be officially announced already on Thursday, October 31.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given his verdict on the deal.
“Rúben Amorim can be considered new Man United manager, confirmed,” he reports.
“Portuguese coach will start new Man United chapter during the international break; documents to be signed this week.
“Contract until 2027. Sporting to receive €10m clause — plus €1m for staff/30 days notice.”
