Rio Ferdinand disagrees with Roy Keane over Garnacho

Only recently, Roy Keane voiced his doubts about Alejandro Garnacho, claiming that Manchester United couldn’t rely on the young winger as a starter.
However, Keane’s former teammate Rio Ferdinand has stepped in to defend the Argentinian, offering a different perspective on his podcast.
“You look at him and say his game isn’t 100 per cent clean but that can be developed. But he doesn’t lack effort, he doesn’t lack energy,” Ferdinand said.
Highlighting Garnacho’s fearless approach, Ferdinand added, “He’s got a pair of b*llocks that says he wants the ball, he will take the ball anywhere. He has got that belief and character that says I should be here and I should be playing. ‘Give me the ball at all times’.”
Ferdinand also praised Garnacho’s mentality in tough situations, saying, “And in the situation we are in now where there are a lot of players shying away from the ball when the team aren’t doing well, he stands out like a sore thumb in that respect.”
At just 20 years old, Garnacho has been a regular figure in Manchester United’s first team for a couple of seasons. However, he’s recently hit a rough patch, providing only two assists in his last 17 appearances. His last goal came back in November.
While Keane remains skeptical about Garnacho’s readiness to be a consistent starter, Ferdinand’s defence shows there’s still plenty of belief in the young winger’s potential.
