Ruben Amorim: Nothing can save our season

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has delivered a brutally honest assessment of the club’s struggles this season, admitting that even winning the Europa League would not be enough to salvage their disastrous campaign.
The Red Devils have endured a torrid time in Amorim’s first year at the helm, currently languishing in 14th place in the Premier League—a shocking decline for a club of United’s stature. With domestic form in freefall, many have pointed to the Europa League as the club’s last hope for redemption.
However, when asked about the importance of lifting the trophy, Amorim dismissed the idea that European success would make up for United’s failings.
“People look at this competition as the only competition that can save our season,” he told reporters. “I don’t see it like that. Nothing can save our season.”
It’s a stark reality check from the United boss, whose side has failed to meet expectations across all fronts. While winning the Europa League would secure a route back into the Champions League, Amorim clearly believes the damage done this season cannot be undone by one piece of silverware.
With United’s league form in tatters and pressure mounting on Amorim, the road ahead remains uncertain. Whether the Europa League can provide a silver lining or not, the manager has made it clear—this season will go down as a failure.
