Ruben Amorim admits Premier League is tougher than Europa League

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has opened up about the stark differences between the Europa League and the Premier League, admitting that his team feels more comfortable in European competition due to the physicality and tempo of domestic games.
Speaking about the contrast between the two competitions, Amorim highlighted the intensity of the English top flight compared to European fixtures.
Amorim stated: “I think you can see it in the physicality. And we are more comfortable there. I feel that our team is sometimes stronger than the opponent in that aspect.”
The Portuguese coach pointed out that United have more time to think and build their play in Europe, something that isn’t always possible in the fast-paced Premier League.
He went on: “In some games in our league, I don’t feel that. We have more time to think. And this is a very important thing when we have to build up in the different way.”
Amorim emphasised that while his squad has a clear tactical approach, they require more time to execute it properly, which is easier to find in European competition.
“We have an idea, they know what to do, but they need a little bit more time because it’s not natural. When you have a little bit more time, you are more in control of the momentums of the game.”
The United boss believes that the speed of play in the Europa League gives his side a better chance to dominate games, compared to the relentless physical battles of the Premier League.
“So I felt it’s the speed of the game give us more chance to be more comfortable and more dominant in the games.”
With United competing on multiple fronts this season, Amorim will need to find a way to adapt his team to the rigors of the Premier League while continuing to take advantage of the relative breathing room available in European matches.
