Marcus Rashford makes Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad

Marcus Rashford has earned a recall to the England squad under new manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.
The Manchester United forward, currently on loan at Aston Villa, had faced uncertainty over his international future after struggling for form earlier this season. Following his omission from Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad and a difficult spell under new United boss Ruben Amorim—where he was dropped from matchday squads—Rashford’s England career seemed in doubt.
However, a loan move to Villa in January has revitalized the 27-year-old, with four assists and a series of strong performances helping the club progress to the Champions League quarterfinals. His resurgence has now been rewarded with a place in Tuchel’s first England squad.
Tuchel has also recalled Ajax midfielder Jordan Henderson and handed first call-ups to defenders Myles Lewis-Skelly and Dan Burn.
Rashford’s last England appearance came in March last year during a friendly against Brazil at Wembley. He will now have the opportunity to add to his 60 caps and eight international goals, as he looks to regain his place as a key player for both club and country.
