Report: Ralf Rangnick already searching for replacement for Manchester United midfielder. It’s not Paul Pogba
According to reports, Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has set his sights on signing a replacement for veteran midfielder Nemanja Matic in the January transfer window.
Reports from The Athletic claim the German tactician wants to sign a tall, domineering presence in central midfield.
While the club would love to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and West Ham United’s Declan Rice, but neither are likely to be attainable in January.
Further details of the report claim new United assistant manager Chris Armas is said to be a huge admirer of USA international Tyler Adams, who currently plays for RB Leipzig, but he is similar in stature to Fred.
Speaking about the possibility of making new signings when the window opens, Rangnick said recently: “From my experience, winter is not the best time for sustainable transfers.
“With the quality of players we have here, it would in theory only make sense if you can get players who can guarantee you more quality. From experience, this will be difficult in the winter.”
