Manchester United star set for new contract. But the club wants to sell him
According to The Star, Manchester United are set to trigger an extension in Victor Lindelof’s contract, but will be open to selling the centre-back in January.
The Swede moved to Old Trafford from Benfica in 2017 and signed a contract extension two years later. However, he has since lost his starting spot, with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez the preferred partnership for United manager Erik ten Hag.
The United hierarchy are considering to extend the player’s deal for a further year in order to get a reasonable transfer fee from his sale in January or in the summer.
The club wants a fee in the region of £15m for Lindelof despite it’s a significant decrease on the £30m spent to sign him.
