Premier League manager reacts to reports linking quality midfielder to Manchester United
Brighton boss Graham Potter, has expressed optimism Yves Bissouma will not be leaving the Amex stadium this month, despite interest from some of the top sides in the Premier League.
Bissouma has become one of the most sought-after midfielders in English football, following his mesmerising displays for the Seagulls since his £15 million move from Lille in 2018.
The likes of Manchester United and Liverpool are said to be keen on signing the Malian, but Potter insists Brighton want to keep him.
Speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Crystal Palace this weekend, he told reporters, “Players at this level know that at this time of year there is speculation and things in newspapers.
“It’s part of what they have to deal with and they know they have to focus on their football and let all the other stuff take care of itself.
“There are lots of ifs and buts. I’m confident. I think Yves is enjoying his football here but with the transfer window you never know.”
Potter added, “It doesn’t matter what I say. We have to adapt – which we do, which we have done.
“You have to plan for things you can’t necessarily foresee. We’re in a good place but we’ll see.”
