Burnley boss sends warning to Manchester United about their new signing
Burnley play host to Manchester United on Tuesday night at the Turf Moor, and it’s a game between two sides with contrasting fortunes.
United are trying to stake a claim on top four, while Burnley are fighting to come out of the relegation waters.
Meanwhile, Burnley signed a top striker on deadline day, as Wout Weghorst arrived at Turf Moor on deadline day of the January window from Wolfsburg.
The 29-year-old has been a top striker all his career, and boasts an impressive Bundesliga scoring record from his days at Wolfsburg.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche has warned Manchester United of the threat that will be posed by his new signing.
Reflecting on Weghorst’s debut against Watford, Dyche said: “I think Wout did really well. It’s not easy to come into a group, he’s accepted what the group are about.
“He’ll give us hold up play, he’ll give us quality and as he gets used to the tempo of the Premier League, when he gets his eye in, I think he’ll do well.”
Dyche expects his new striker to form a buzzing partnership with Maxwel Cornet.
He went on: “Maxwel came in late, had a couple of extra days off, so he’s going to get sharper, his awareness of playing with a different striker, who deals with the ball well and can hold it up well.
“A couple of chances you would fancy him to take when he settles but I’m sure he will very quickly.
“He’s had a quiet game by his standards but we didn’t expect miracles from him. He will get that sharpness.
“We know how much of a good player he is.”
